The National Rural Health Students' Network (NRHSN) represents 25 Rural Health Clubs (RHC) with over 6500 members located at universities throughout Australia. The NRHSN is a multidisciplinary Network.

Vibe Alive

VIBE ALIVE   Live it. Love it!

Vibe Alive is a two day youth festival for young Australians of all backgrounds that promotes Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and encourages tolerance and teamwork.  Vibe Alive is run by Vibe Australia, and the festivals incorporate music, sport, dance and art in a high-energy, youth-friendly setting. Participants also have the opportunity to meet inspiring role models, learn about healthy living and career options and boost literacy and numeracy skills.

Vibe Alive – Aims and Goals:

  • improvement in school attendance and retention, especially for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students;
  • promotion of healthy, positive lifestyles for young people to lead to improved participation in education and a reduction in crime and substance abuse;
  • promotion of better literacy skills among young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students;
  • promotion of contemporary and traditional Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures to all participants;
  • improvement in students’ self-esteem to develop their aspirations and expectations in their ability to achieve educational success;
  • facilitation of connection of students with suitable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander role models, information and resources promoting education, training and vocational pathways; and
  • increased capability of local communities by allowing them to be involved at a local level in the planning, development and, where possible, the supply of goods and services at the festival.

The five 2008 Vibe Alive festivals were held in Coonamble NSW, Port Ausgusta SA, Kalgoorlie WA, Mildura and Rockhampton QLD.  To read what some of our members thought about their experiences at Vibe Alive click on the reports:
