Fred Hollows Charity Barndance 2008 - AURHA, FURHS & ROUSTAH

The AURHA, FURHS and ROUSTAH Charity Barndance was held in October 2008.Designed with the primary aim of raising funds for a rural health focused charity, the orgnaisers selected the Fred Hollows Foundation as the charity.  The Foundation provided promotional material including posters, pamphlets and a DVD which were all fantastic at helping promote the Barndance.

The venue had a rustic feel to it which added to the atmosphere of the evening.  We were extremely fortunate to have one of our members, Alex Gordon and his very musically talented family volunteer their services to provide music while Alex called the dances.  We also had a jazz quartet perform later in the evening.

With a BBQ, raffle and ticket costs, the three Clubs managed to raise $853 for the Fred Hollows Foundation, which was a fantastic effort for the first such event.  A foundation has now been laid for similar events to be run in future with the aim of networking, and raising money for a worthwhile charity.
