Campfire 2007 - AURHA, FURHS & ROUSTAH

Campfire 2007, the South Australian Undergraduate Rural Health Forum, ran over the weekend 7-9 September. The event was attended by forty-five delegates from the three University rural health groups in South Australia: AURHA (Adelaide University Rural Health Alliance), FURHS (Flinders University Rural Health Society) and ROUSTAH (Rural Outlook Students Towards Allied Health). The event was held at the picturesque Pichi Richi Park, near Quorn, in South Australia’s striking southern Flinders Ranges.
Campfire 2007 represented a non-stop, action packed programme of activities from start to finish. Delegates were treated to excellent presentations from guest speakers from around the state and the country, as well as a number of interesting reports from fellow delegates regarding rural health research that they had carried out. The programme also included skills sessions on such things as massage, emergency first aid, and ankle strapping; needless to say, the massage station was particularly popular. During the nights, delegates were occupied with social activities – these aimed to ensure that all delegates left the event having met people like-minded University students from around South Australia: on Friday, drinks were had around the open campfire, and on Saturday, a barn dance was held at the nearby Quorn Town Hall.
