2017 Recap

Throughout 2017 BREAATHHE hosted many successful events and we hope to continue this into 2018!

We welcomed all of our new members at our 'Farmer Wants and Health Professional' Welcome Party at Bar on the Hill, with good music, great food and country inspired costumes.

A lot of our members require First Aid Certificates so every year we run First Aid Courses on campus. We know this can be difficult to fit into the beginning of semester so we try to make this as easy as possible for our members with multiple dates, a convenient location, reasonable prices and food provided.

To show our support for Indigenous Health we hosted a Close the Gap Day at Bar on the Hill, with guest speakers, food, entertainment and extra information it was a great day to learn more and show your support.

Two of our dedicated committee members visited Mudgee High School to inspire the next generation of University Students. They had lots of fun playing educational games with the students.

Our annual Skills Night was a huge success with 10 stations - venepuncture, suturing, intubation, plastering, occupational therapy, nutrition and dietetics, scrubbing in, ECG, spirometry and canulation. Students from all degrees were welcome and all learnt new skills to help them as they continue on into their careers.

Nine BREAATHHE members from a variety of heath degrees were lucky enough to be chosen to participate in our Rural High School Visit in the New England area. Over three days they visited Mt Kaputar National Park near Narribri, spoke to students about studying health at University and had fun teaching the students at degree specific skill stations at both Moree and Inverell High School, and visited the Myall Creek Massacre Memorial Site.

We concluded the year at our Annual General Meeting in October. A huge thank you guys out to our outgoing committee and a huge Good Luck is wished to our incoming committee for 2018 as we try to make 2018 bigger and better than 2017. Keep an eye on our Facebook and website for annual and new events!

BREAATHHE is excited to continue Bringing Rural Experience and Awareness To Hunter Health Education!
