The Riverland Rural High School visit will be held on either July 10th or July 11th at the Renmark Rural Clinical School. This event is a free, fun and interactive day where the students from years 9 to 11 can learn more about a variety of health careers, pathways to study and speak with current Flinders University health students studying a range of health disciplines.
The day is held to provide students with an interest in pursuing a career in health with information in regards to what career options are available in the field of health. The intent is to expose the students to a variety of health disciplines and provide them with insight into the pathways and entry requirements into university for these careers. This will include a variety of clinical skills station and a student panel who will provide an insight into their experience of study and potentially moving from a rural or remote area to Adelaide for university.
FURHS will be seeking student volunteers from health disciplines including Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Nutrition and Dietetics, Nursing, Medicine, Paramedics, Audiology and Speech Pathology who are willing to run clinical skills sessions and share their experiences and expertise of their respective disciplines with the high school students. Ideally we would like students from these health disciplines who come from a rural or remote area so they can share their experiences about moving to the city for their university studies. However, all interested student are encouraged to volunteer.
Individuals who are interested in assisting at this event or who would like further information, please email the RHSV Co-ordinator Matilda Smale at firstname.lastname@example.org.
