Connecting with our local Rural Clinical Schools

Rebecca Irwin, Chair, NRHSN presented at the Federation of Rural Medical Educators (FRAME) meeting, 4 May:

  • All Rural Clinical Schools provided updates on the new Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training (RHMT) Framework, which the NRHSN provided a submission to the review of in April 2015
  • We encourage your Rural Health Club to continue to engage with your local Rural Clinical Schools to strengthen your rural health multidisciplinary activities

The 2016 Budget was delivered on 3 May. The health portfolio highlights included:

  • Focus on integration, innovation and modernisation to deliver 21st century health services
  • Health Portfolio’s budget statementsHealth access and support services
  • Health Minister’s media release
  • 2016-17 Regional Ministerial Statement, Investing in Regional Growth, which outlines almost 400 measures that benefit regional Australia across health, education, employment, defence, infrastructure, telecommunications, agriculture and water resources and other portfolios

What have we been up to?

  • 15 April – The NRHSN was represented and provided member views at the JFPP National Advisory Committee Meeting
  • 17-19 April – The NRHSN was represented at the Caring for Country Kids conference
  • 17 April– The NRHSN was represented and provided member views at the SARRAH Advisory Committee Meeting
  • 18 April - The NRHSN was represented at the National Rural Health Alliance (NRHA) Council Meeting
  • 28-29 April – The NRHSN was represented at the Telehealth Conference
  • 29 April – The NRHSN was represented and provided member views at the Royal Australian College of Physicians (RACP) Capacity to Train reference group
  • 4 May – The NRHSN was represented at the Federation of Rural Australian Medical Educators (FRAME) Meeting
  • 5-7 May – The NRHSN was represented at the Primary Healthcare Nurses Conference
