Health Management Internship Program
Increase your health management and leadership skills
The Health Management Internship Program (HMIP) is delivered by the Australasian College of Health Service Management (ACHSM).
It offers applicants the opportunity to develop their knowledge and understanding of the health sector, as well as further developing specific capabilities and skills, required to start a career in managing the challenges and complexities of health service delivery.
Although the terms of each participating state’s program vary, HMIP focuses on key benefits for Health Management Interns, such as:
- employment in a healthcare organisation with skills and knowledge acquired through supervised, structured workplace experience
- an industry-recognised postgraduate academic qualification in health administration
- first-hand access to support and mentoring opportunities as well as professional development and networking.
Throughout the two years of the program, Management interns also complete a postgraduate academic qualification in health administration, this is a two year part-time course undertaken through external education. Candidates who have already attained a postgraduate degree in a relevant health field can still apply for the HMIP and can opt out of this aspect of the internship.
The program is administered independently by ACHSM Branches in states where it operates (currently NSW, Queensland and Victoria). To find out more about each participating state’s HMIP activities and schedules, please visit the program page here.
Applications for the 2017 program will open 1 July 2016 and close on 31 July 2016.
