Congratulations to the new Allied Health Officer: Simon Whelan
It’s a pleasure to announce the 2018 NRHSN Executive Allied Health Officer as Simon Whelan!
Simon is a student at the University of Sydney studying a Master of Speech Language Pathology and is involved in the MIRAGE rural health club. He was born into a rice farming family, with home being on a property near Griffith NSW. He has an innate passion for rural health, having witnessed and directly experienced disparity in health and healthcare. Simon has served as Education Officer for RAHMS at UNSW Sydney, where he coordinated a rural health symposium and attended rural high school visits throughout NSW. Bringing both his expertise in medical science and rural experiences, he sat on the 2017 working group to co-author one of the NRHSN’s Position Papers. He is eager to represent the nation by supporting initiatives and by collaborating with a cohesive network of supportive, expert and passionate advocates.
